Amateur of card games

Tuesday, October 19th, 2010

I didn’t use to be a big amateur of card games, just played them at times with friends, not greatly impressed. But recently a friend of mine advised me to try a new application made by Viaden Mobile for ipad- ipad poker. I was really surprised to see how the game captured me from the very second of playing it. I must say the app was created by the command of professionals, as they included everything here- the choice of games, the background music, the real dealer. All this makes the game even more realistic, with only one difference-you don’t have to go to a casino, you may just take your ipad, iphone or ipod touch and enjoy the game! Or build your own casino!

Better after 2 weeks

Just a few personal words about new iPhone Application:

“Like all pregnant women I began to think over some exercises and forms of physical activity which could be useful mainly for the health of pregnant women. I know that swimming is useful, I attend swimming pool once a week, but it is too boring for me. One day I’ve read in the internet about the new iphone Yoga application provided by Viaden Mobile which provides me with the opportunity to do regular workouts at home, without attending the gym and spending my money on training. Yoga is useful for the pregnant women because it helps to relax, to avoid stress and overload, to freshen the mind. I feel much better now after 2 weeks of regular yoga workouts. “

iPhone fitness from Viaden Mobile

Friday, August 13th, 2010

That’s great when your life brings you changes and surprises! I like changes in my life although not all of them are quite good. I’ve been being just a housewife for 10 years , my husband used to instate our family with all the necessary things. But not long ago his business collapsed and I had nothing to do but find a job for myself. The thing which disappoints me most of all is the lack of time – it is difficult to find time for myself and for sports, because I’m sporty and active. But now I have such opportunity – I’m using iPhone fitness from Viaden Mobile wherever I am – the functions of this application are really wide, including the special function which allows me to see the how the food which I have eaten influences my physical form, how many calories are in this food and how many calories I have to burn. Very, very convenient and smart application!

Pedometer and MP3 player in one iPhone

Monday, May 31st, 2010

Sometimes I see runners who have three devices while running or jogging: a pedometer, an MP3 player and a mobile phone. It looks funny how they run and try to keep all of them together. I also like jogging and do it regularly three times a week. But I prefer choosing unknown routes and sometimes I don’t know the exact number of meters I have passed.

My friend knowing my craze about running presented me an iPhone with a special app inside - All-In Fitness Pedometer – that can calculate and count meters and steps, as well as time, distance and speed. And, which I like most of all, the number of calories I have burnt.

Moreover, I can use my iPhone as an MP3 player. So I got three in one. An excellent present!

Development of technologies

Monday, April 26th, 2010

Sometimes I start thinking about present day technologies and the speed at which they are developing from day to day. About one hundred and fifty years ago people didn’t have anything. The first technological device worth mentioning was the telephone invented at the end of the 19th century. Then appeared a car, a plane, television, etc.

The 20th century can be considered the century of the most prominent technological development and achievements, the computer and everything connected with it being the most outstanding.

At present such new technologies and devices are turning up practically every day. And we even can’t follow all of them. What have we got today? Mobile phones with all possible options such as TV, camera, mp3 player, etc, ultra-thin laptops, spy earpieces for secret communication and many others.

And we all know that it’s not the limit.

Is it worthy to start up mobile development business?

Saturday, March 13th, 2010

I have some ideas on the business of mobile software development. You may ask me why I have started to think this over. Because it seems that mobile development has become the tremendous trend of the last year. Every my fellow software company have turned to mobiles. They say that it’s much easier to get an order for mobile development that any other. It seems the world went crazy. Everybody goes to mobile markets. Apple AppStore have announced 3 bil download. The number of apps in the store exceeds 250 thousand. Every week the news appears about new rich jerks that managed to catch the mainstream and get their first (or the next one :) ) million.
So the question is it worthy to enter that market today when everyone is already there. I believe the answer is “yes”. The number of mobile phone users has exceeded 4 billion last year. The number of Internet users counts in billions also. So there are fantastic possibilities for market growth. You may buy everything online now, even the latest Gucci collections.
The second point is that there are some niches on the market that are absolutely free. Just compare the number of apps in iTunes and Android market.
And the last idea is that tastes differ so the fashion changes. So if you manage to guess what is in trend today you will the king of the mountain.
So stop loosing your time (money) and go for mobile.

iPhone or HTC HD2?

Saturday, January 23rd, 2010

Every single person who beautifies himself to the minority that could think a little is going to make a hard decision. I mean they should decide what smartphone is best: iPhone 3GS or HTC HD2. Of course there’s Google Nexus One…

Anyway the choice is too difficult.
I’ll try to compare the first two favs here.

So, HD2 is better because:
1. It has better screen and hardware
2. It performs multiple tasks (shame on iPhone!)
3. You have full access to the most folders of the device (not to iTunes only…)
4. It’s very easy to change the battery (HTC doesn’t consider that their buyers are idiots and should change the device because the battery is dying slowly)

On the other hand iPhone is still better because of:
1. Windows Mobile (that rigged OS is not considered to be used without stylus)
2. it has better Multitouch
3. it’s soooo cute and stylish
4. iTunes store has 120000 iPhone applications that cover every need and want you may have
So you should decide what to choose…

James Bond As A Core Engine Of Technical Progress

Saturday, October 17th, 2009

Once upon a time several centuries ago human beings had to live in conditions that we couldn’t even think acceptable. Just think of life without hot water, electricity, your computer, Internet, Myspace, mobile apps or without lavatory pan. Can you think about that? Can you? That’s not a reality of a vagrant. You have just dreamt about yourself in a Camelot palace of King Arthur.
Is it too long way to go for you? No problems.

Let’s go just a centennial before modern days. Now let’s imagine the beginning of the 20th century. Just look though the upper list and consider how many positions are still not discovered.

In the last two centuries the technical progress has passed forward with huge steps. We live in a time of discoveries. Every single day of your life scientists discover something that is urged to make your life more comfortable.

But do you know how the invention appears? Well, nobody knows that for sure. Some believe that is God’s affair. He loves us a lot and He gives the ideas how to improve our life quality. Others believe that a feature of highly developed living matter. They say that we have improved ourselves for the level when we have to find out new conditions that provide us with inventions. Anyway both sides agree that first of all the idea appears. And the development of this idea is a discovery.

For now you should ask me in which connection I have started this article with James Bond?

Well, my idea is that very often the clue of a new invention appears in one’s head and is being developed in the other’s one.

Just remember French writer Jules Verne and his bunch of fantastic ideas described in his novels. Most of them are real now. One day Czech writer Karel Capek has used the word “robot” for the first time and now we have dosens of robots of different types. And at last (wow, I’ve managed!) let us think of James Bond who has used a pack of devices that were absolutely unreal for the time the book had been written. Now everybody could buy a spy earpiece device or find a pen that could sign a contract and be used like a gun after that.

It is clear that the main two engines of the technical progress are business and government military sector. And in fact that two forces are working together to bring you the things you have used to. E.g. Internet has been discovered by militaries for their own needs. And after that it has fallen into business hands that allowed it to improve to its modern state.

So when you see a new spy device (invisible earpiece, spy headphone or spy earbud) in Bond’s hands it is always a good idea to think a little where it could be used in civil life. Maybe you manage to discover something that could be useful for many and bring you fantastic profit.

“I have a dream…” that all of the readers shall dream of strange application of usual devices…

The other side

While surfing Internet I have met an article that made me overlook some of my views on franchise system.
It is called Marketing the Franchise and written by Edward N. Levitt, a franchise lawyer and partner with Gowling LaFleur Henderson LLP, who has over 30 years experience practicing franchise law, is a prolific writer, a noted lecturer and is currently General Counsel to the Canadian Franchise Association.
I used to consider franchises mostly from franchisees point of view. What should an entrepreneur do in order to find the right franchisor? What are the most thrilling franchise experiences in … (let’s say Australia)? What are the main rules to follow in order to be successful franchisee?
But franchise as any other system is a two-way highway. And franchisors also face a lot of problems during setting up and organizing a franchise system work.
Their problems are problems of other growth. Where should a company search for its franchisees? What are the criteria to choose the right guys to work with that business? How should business relationships be installed? Where are the responsibilities borders? What information and authority should be shared with franchisees? How should a company respond to improper franchisees?
All that topics are called franchise marketing. And a franchisor should be clear in his mind answering all that questions.
So the article is a must read to anyone thinking to install his own franchise system and highly recommended to anyone interested in franchises.
